1. What is Sunset Park Open Studios (SPOS)?

Sunset Park Open Studios is a multi-day arts celebration featuring exhibitions, events, and open studios throughout Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The event is free and open to the public and will take place from Friday, October 18th through Sunday, October 20th, 2024.


2. Who can participate in SPOS?

Artists, curators, and organizations located within Sunset Park (between the blocks of Prospect Ave to 65th St, and between 1st Ave and 5th Ave) are eligible to participate. If you fall outside this neighborhood boundary, you are not eligible to register.


3. How do I register for SPOS?

You can register by filling out the SPOS Registration Form. You may register as an individual, as a collective, or as an organization. The person registering your group or organization will be the main point of contact with SPOS.


4. What information is required for registration?

You will need to provide:
    • Your name (or the name of the primary contact if registering as an organization or collective)
    • Email address
    • Studio or location address
    • Website and Instagram handle
    • Artist statement (for individuals) or mission statement (for organizations/collectives)
    • Studio or event visiting hours for October 18-20
    • Description of your event or exhibition (if applicable)
    • Names of all participants, including artists and curators
    • Any additional notes for visitors accessing your studio or location


5. Are there any recommended visiting hours for my studio or event?

Yes, we recommend the following visiting hours:

    • Friday: 6-9 PM
    • Saturday-Sunday: 1-5 PM

You are welcome to open at any hours you prefer throughout the weekend.


6. Can I submit images for use on SPOS social media and website?

Yes, you can submit images for use on SPOS socials, Instagram, and the website through the registration form or by emailing us at spwo2023@gmail.com. Please include the artwork information (title, year, materials) and any other relevant info when submitting images.


7. How will my participation in SPOS be promoted?

Your participation will be promoted through the SPOS website and social media channels. Ensure you provide accurate and complete information to maximize your exposure.


8. Is there a fee to participate in SPOS?

Registering and participating in SPOS is free this year! If you would like to donate and support SPOS so that we can continue this event in the future you may do so here.


9. What kind of events or exhibitions can I host?

It is up to each artist and/or organization to decide how they would like to participate in SPOS.  This includes open studios, artist talks, live demonstrations, performances, and more.


10. How can visitors find my studio or event location?

Visitors can find your studio or event location through the SPOS website and maps that will be available during the event. Make sure your address and any access instructions are clear when registering.


11. What measures should I take for accessibility?
